Helicoil Inspection

Developed and fabricated a remote inspection fixture for helicoil threads on a reactor face, using low-cost snake-eye cameras integrated into a concentric alignment housing. The design ensures consistent optical centering within each threaded hole, enabling reliable verification of helicoil placement, depth, and condition without specialized metrology equipment.

The system was produced using rapid prototyping and fabricated components, tested for repeatable alignment, and optimized to operate within existing site access constraints. By leveraging commercially available cameras, the solution delivered significant cost savings, reduced inspection time.
